Once couple of friends were enjoying their time at a small road side restaurant. They were eating a supper and having a chit chat. While talking about different topics one of them started talking about his father, in fact criticising his father. Then one by one they all started telling how because of their father they are not able to fulfil their desires and are unable to make their dreams come true.
They started telling to each other that how their father is not helping them in doing anything of their interest, or how their father is becoming a hurdle in their growth. One friend said he wants to pursue some course and just because his father is not supporting he is not able to do that course. One said he wants to do some job but his father is not allowing. One said he wants to establish some business but just because his father is not supporting he is unable to start that business.
When they all were discussing all this the restaurant owner was listening their talks. He kept on listening to all those friends for a while and then after some time, he came close to those guys and interrupted them. He said “boys if you don’t mind I want to share something with you”. One of the boys said “ya it’s OK. Why not! Say what you want to say.”

The restaurant owner then started talking, he said “kids i have been listening to you for quite a few minutes. You all are talking about your father. You believe that because of your parents you are not able to fulfil your dreams and they are the hurdles in your progress. You all are blaming your parents for your mistakes actually. Don’t you people know that your parents are your genitor only not your fortune maker? Their job was just to simply give birth to you, not to define your destiny. They have done their job now the onus of writing your destiny is on you. It is your responsibility actually to make your life, your future or write your destiny not anybody else’s not even your father’s.”
After saying all this the restaurant owner finally said “nonetheless you people are lucky that you have parents. Just imagine about those who don’t have parents, tell me who should they blame for not making any progress in life. You guys at least have your parents to put your blame on, who should they put their blame on”. Then he also shared his story with those boys; how he came to the city from a small village without anything and then how he earned money and established that restaurant and then how he is taking care of his family.

After listening to all this the boys got stunned, they realised their mistake. They realised that only they are responsible for their life and they are unnecessarily criticising and blaming their father for their own mistakes. They also realised that the responsibility of defining their destiny is only & only theirs, not anybody else’s.
One should never forget that the dreams that one has is one’s only, not one’s parents or not anybody else’s thereby the onus of fulfilling them is also on one not on one’s parents or anybody else. We always get only what we ourself work for not what others work for. Just suppose you live in Delhi and you want to go to cannaught place from laxminagar. You will get many people on your way to show you the way and you may also find many who would actually help you on your way. But it is you who will have to walk on that road.
In your life you may have your parents, teachers, friends, siblings, mentors, guide, etc. But they all will only show you the way, it’s you who will have to walk on the road. They all may help you, support you, push you, guide you, train you, motivate you but it’s you who will have to put in the actual work to make your dreams come true. If you will walk you will reach to your destiny. If you don’t you will never. Somebody else’s walk will not make you reach to your destiny. It’s your own efforts; the work that would put in will take you to your destiny. Their walk will take them to their destiny, not you to yours. Your walk will take you to your destiny not anybody else’s.

Similarly when you go to gym and your trainer shows you how to do the exercise tell me whose muscles build? The trainer’s not yours. Yes, you are learning from him how to do it, however unless you yourself pick up the dumbles and start doing it, your muscles don’t build. When the trainer does the dumbles his muscles build, when you do the dumbles then your muscles build.
As early as you will realise this, It will be much better for you. Instead of depending on others be self dependent. Instead of having expectations from others have all the expectations from yourself. Instead of blaming others learn to take the responsibility. Make yourself understand that those are your dreams and only you can fulfill them. Your fortune maker is nobody else but only you. The day you will realise this the very day your life will start changing.
