Today I am going to ask you one question. I want to ask you, can you all tell me what is the one thing that nobody can take away from you? Can you? Ok, let’s assume for a while that you have it all property, money, friends, relatives, car, jewelry, bungalow, etc. But have you ever thought that all these things can be taken away from you? Then have you ever tried to think that what are the things that nobody can ever take away from you? Well, Those things are your knowledge, experiences, talents and the skills that you have developed in you. I am calling these things ‘one’ because all these things are interrelated with each other.
Your parents might kick you out from their property, your relatives and friends may leave you or may suddenly start keeping distance from you. Your jewelry, money, cars, etc may get looted from you. But your experiences can never be looted from you, your knowledge can not be taken away from you by anybody and the skills & talents that you have developed in you will never leave you in between.
In fact even if someday somebody rob you off of your everything and leave you on road alone without anything, you can still make your everything back with the help of your knowledge and talents. Money, property, friends, everything you will be able to earn it all back with the help of your knowledge and talents. This is why it is very important that we always keep on developing new talents & skills in our self and we keep on gathering knowledge from different sources and gaining new experiences. Because, if there are certain things which are really very vital for one’s success then those are our knowledge that we have gathered, experiences that we have gained and the talents that we have developed. In fact, our true asset and our true earning is not anything else but our knowledge and talents.
Now I will tell you about a very interesting tree. This tree is Chinese bamboo. I am calling this tree very interesting because when you bring the seed of this tree and plant it in your garden and then you water the seed for the next five years you don’t see even a single bud shooting out of the ground. You plant a seed in your garden, you water it, you take it’s care continuously for the next five years but you see nothing, absolutely nothing. But then suddenly in the next 3 months, only the tree reaches the height of 80 feet equal to an 8 story building.
Why is it so? What actually happens for these five years that you see nothing coming out of the ground for such a long period and then suddenly in 90 days only the tree reaches the height of 8 story building? Actually what happens in these 5 years is that the tree just works on its roots and in this long period it spreads it’s roots so strongly that it does not take much time to reach the height of the 8 story building. The roots create such strong and complex network under the ground that It just takes 3 months only to reach the height of 80 feet.
This is what we all need to do. We all also need to keep our patience and need to focus our time on making our roots strong. Because once we have strong roots then it won’t take much time for us also to reach to the heights. And how the roots will get strong? Well by enhancing our knowledge from different sources, by gaining experiences through facing different challenges and developing new skills and talents in our self through experiments, hard work, patience, focus and exposing our self to different things.
If we have developed talent and gathered enough knowledge in us then nobody can stop us from reaching the heights. It all may take some time but you never forget that patience is a virtue and any significant and meaningful thing do take time. Nothing of substance happens in jiffy, long term sustainable successes do require years of effort and hard work.
It is very important that we all very patiently work on making our roots so strong that they can support us in bringing real accomplishments to us. Never forget no matter how beautiful the house you build but if it doesn’t have a strong foundation it will fall down very quickly. However, even if the house isn’t very attractive still if it has a very strong foundation then it will stand tall for very long.
